NORTH HARBOUR SHIPPING STAFF MEMBERS

Ray was introduced into shipping by Mr & Mrs James Olsner in 1981 of Oyster Bay, NY and was immediately employed by Oceanic Operations Corp after graduating The Kings College, NY.

He was responsible for despatching a small fleet of tugs and fresh water barges and handled the fleet insurance. After getting his feet wet and enjoying the shipping industry he moved on to Moran Towing & Transportation Company which was located at the World Trade Center, NY where he despacthed a fleet of ocean going tugs & barges as well as the pilots who navigated them. He broadened his knowledge of the New York Harbor as well as learning all the port restrictions, drafts and tide conditions in the Tri State area. In 1986 he joined the Bouchard Transportation Company of Hicksville, NY and gained invaluable experience working under Morty Bouchard III. In 1990 he joined Heath Chartering where he was hired as Operations Manager and was responsible for vessel operations as well appointing agents, invoicing, laytime calculations and final freights. as a result of his outstanding service, Ray was promoted to the chartering desk by management while continuing to maintain his vessel operational responsibilities. Ray worked as competitive broker and developed his own accounts. After much success at Heath Chartering, he and his wife, Leslie opened North Harbour Shipping in 1994.

Ray is primarily responsible for growing the company’s revenue,locating and qualifying new business contacts, handling spot shipping requests and obtaining forward freight rate agreements. His priority is to maintain customer relations and to communicate personally with his customers regarding current and future business projects. Ray continues to provide innovative ideas for his business and has the determination to find solutions for his client’s shipping needs and/ or finding new alternatives for getting the project completed.

Ray is very familiar with key people, including ship owners, traders, receivers, suppliers, transport companies, port authorities, agents, surveyors, etc. and has become a reliable point of contact for customer requests and transactions. He market researches and prospects for new business and negotiates worldwide on spot, forward voyage, time charter, and Contracts of Afreightment Charter Contracts. He is considered an expert to pre and post-fixture advice to charterers, traders and owners. Ray oversees operations and logistics on voyage and time chartered tonnage and pays close attention to the direction of the markets so North Harbour can advise their clients accurately on how to maximize profits and minimize expenses.

Gabe’s responsibilities at North Harbour Shipping include increasing company revenue and obtaining freight rates while maintaining customer relations and providing solutions to any challenges our clients present. His effective and timely communication has provided excellent post-fixture assistance to owners and charterers around the globe making him a vital asset in the future of North Harbour’s success.

Prior to his work at North Harbour, Gabe graduated from North Shore High School on Long Island and earned his Bachelor’s Degree International Business from Towson University in 2003. After completing work at the United Nations for the mission of the Red Cross, Gabe spent the next 4 years working for a private client wealth management firm on Long Island.

He was born and raised in Glen Head NY, and currently lives in Northport where he enjoys playing ice hockey, running, and reading Bloomberg reports in his spare time.

Leslie Hornosky, co-founder of North Harbour Shipping, has been involved in developing and executing the controls that contribute to meeting the organizations goals and objectives since its inception 14 years ago. Her role is vital to the daily operations of North Harbour Shipping since she is responsible for overlooking the companies financial investments and researching the many potential clients that are part of this highly competitive market. Leslie has also been a key role in establishing many of North Harbour’s business relationships over the years. She is the primary reason we have kept long lasting business relationships with all our clients, bankers, and the our select network of key players that continue to make North Harbour Shipping successful.

Prior to and presently, Leslie enjoys performing as a vocalist with several musical genres and has recorded two CDs as part of “Pearl Street” an eight piece Blues band and her new project is “Catballou” a Jazz influenced band.

Candice handles all clerical duties including new contracts and HR related functions at North Harbour Shipping. Her experience provides our fast growing organization with exceptional organizational skills, and administrative support on important projects at North Harbour’s corporate offices in New York.

Candice graduated in 1999 with a regents diploma from William Floyd High School, and received a Bachelors degree from St. Joseph’s College in December 2003 where she majored in Human Relations, and Business Administration.
