How We Fix
Charter Types We Broker
01
Voyage Charter
The ship owner agrees to carry a specific cargo from one port to another for a fixed freight rate. North Harbour Shipping negotiates the terms — freight rate, laytime, demurrage, and port rotation — on behalf of our clients.
02
Time Charter
The charterer hires the vessel for a defined period and pays hire on a daily or monthly basis. The charterer controls the vessel's trading within agreed parameters. We broker time charters for both owners seeking employment and charterers seeking tonnage.
03
Contract of Affreightment (COA)
A long-term agreement to carry a series of cargo shipments over a defined period. COAs provide cargo owners with rate certainty and ship owners with predictable revenue — North Harbour Shipping structures and brokers these agreements for bulk cargo clients.
